Utopia & dystopia

By Oliver Miguel Jean Baptiste

For my final project, I created a set design plan poster for an original movie concept I developed. The movie is based on a short story I wrote with a dystopian theme, and the primary set needed was a warehouse. I began by conceptualizing the space through initial sketches, using Adobe Illustrator and SketchUp to develop the layout and structure of the set. Once the design was finalized, I created high-quality renders in Foyr Neo to bring the environment to life. The final poster showcases the completed set design, highlighting the creative process, tools used, and how each element supports the story and overall vision of the film.

During my time in New City, I’ve really enjoyed collaborating with others and gaining a wide range of new skills. The experience has broadened my perspective on potential career paths, especially those that connect directly to the work I’ve done on my project. I’ve developed strong skills in Photoshop and Illustrator, which I’m particularly proud of, and towards the end of my time here, I also learned how to use SketchUp. These tools have helped me build a solid portfolio and a versatile skill set, preparing me to take on future challenges in the art and design world with confidence.
